Sustainability

Responsible corporate action forms the basis for our sustainable economic success and secures our future. As market leader in sailcloth and innovator in the field of technical fabrics, we are aware of our social responsibility and have set ourselves the goal to have as little negative impact as possible on the environment and the climate. Our work is characterised by respect for our environment as the following concrete measures show:

We produce climate-neutrally

Since the beginning of 2021, our two production sites in Kempen (DE) and Putnam (USA) have been climate-neutral. All emissions were systematically recorded within the framework of the DIN ISO 50001 and have been significantly reduced through the use of green electricity, green gas and other measures. All remaining emissions are being reduced in cooperation with Climate Partner and through the climate protection project “Plastic-free Oceans”. You can find more information here.

We think ecologically

In addition to climate-neutral production, our priorities are sustainably sourced raw materials and recycled materials, environmentally friendly transport routes and climate-conscious processing. We are working hard with competent partners to find solutions in these areas. Together with the Saxon Textile Research Institute (STFI), we are also researching recycling processes for raw materials from used cloth (recycling).

We offer maximum transparency

The cleenTEC® seal serves as an orientation aid. It identifies products with which customers quality, but also for more environmental protection. The term “cleen” is made up of the words clean for clean and green for green or sustainable. All products with this seal have been manufactured in climate-neutral production facilities and also contain other environmentally friendly innovations. For example, they contain recycled materials, are particularly easy to recycle, are produced with fossil-free raw materials or are themselves completely climate-neutral.

Together for sustainable success

Only together can we really make a difference, so we have joined forces with environmental associations, recycling, textile and fibre experts, sailmakers and also boat and ship builders to launch the Cleen Sailing Initiative in 2020. The initiative aims to make the sport of sailing, which is already an environmentally friendly sport, even more kind to the environment.
