Kempen July 10th, 2023 – At the Kempen-based company Dimension-Polyant, 2023 is all about the launch of Tyra PLY®. Offshore sailor Lisa Berger is also supporting the campaign at her regattas.
Lisa Berger is the only Austrian to take part in the Mini-Transat 2023 and aims to achieve a place in the top 10. On her Mini 6.50 “Mojo”, Lisa Berger has been completing numerous qualifying races and training sessions since April in preparation for her big project in September 2023. As one of 12 women, in a 90- strong field, she will compete in the single-handed race across the Atlantic, sailing from Les Sables d’Olonne to Saint-François in Guadeloupe.
“I am very grateful for the trust Dimension-Polyant has placed in me. I feel perfectly prepared and am top motivated,” explains the 33-year-old sailor.
Dimension-Polyant Managing Director Uwe Stein: “We are very happy to have found a successful sailor in Lisa Berger, who will make our new Tyra Technology® known in sailing and especially in the regatta scene! This is the focus of our current advertising campaign.”
Tyra PLY® – With the state-of-the-art Tyra PLY® material, Dimension-Polyant has succeeded in producing filament sailcloth in roll form using the innovative Tyra Technology®, making it accessible to the broad mass of regatta sailors.
The material promises greater tear strength and a broader range of performance than conventional laminates while offering the best strength-to- weight ratio, dramatically increasing the competitiveness of panelled sails over membrane sails.
Thanks to new specialist machines and tools, Dimension-Polyant is able to split fibers into a homogeneous distribution of filaments and fix them spread flat in a tape. This creates unidirectional (UD) monofilament tapes that can be processed into a variety of materials. These products are sold directly to companies under the name Tyra UD®. These Tyra UD® tapes form the basis for the new generation of Tyra PLY® ranges for the sailing market, including kites, wings and windsurfing sails in the future.
