Kempen, January 13, 2026 – The world’s leading sailcloth manufacturer, Dimension-Polyant, is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, looking back on a long and successful history. Since its founding in 1966, the company has stood for pioneering innovation in the development and production of sailcloths and technical fabrics – shaping watersports to this day.

60 years of success stories
The foundation was laid in 1966 under the name „Vereinigte Seidenwebereien AG Krefeld“. Over six decades, the company has evolved into one of the world’s leading suppliers for sailcloths and laminates. Dimension-Polyant combines craftsmanship with state-of-the-art production facilities, intensive research and development, and a clear focus on the needs of sailmakers, sailors and industrial partners worldwide.
Milestones in the company’s history
As early as 1974, Dimension-Polyant supplied the material for the approximately 2,000 square meters of sail area of the Gorch Fock. Just ten years later, the company’s proprietary windsurf laminate was used at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Today, more than 95% of all windsurf sails incorporate customized laminates manufactured at the company’s Putnam, USA, facility. In 1987, another major milestone followed with the America’s Cup. Since then, Dimension-Polyant materials have become an integral part of regattas around the globe.
With production facilities in Putnam, USA, and Kempen, Germany, as well as an in-house research and development department, Dimension-Polyant is able to accelerate processes and optimize lengthysupply chains. This ensures planning reliability and full control of all processes through to delivery.
Innovation as a constant for 60 years
Innovation has always been and remains the company’s driving force. Dimension-Polyant continuously invests in research and development, new materials, and more sustainable production processes – to create sailcloth and textile solutions that meet the increasing demands of racing, cruising and technical applications.
The latest technological milestone is the unique Tyra Technology®, which is not only used in the production of high-tech materials for the performance segment, but has also set new standards in the cruising and bluewater sailing sector. The range includes Tyra PLY® LS®, Tyra PLY® Pure PLUS, and Tyra DC, currently the only white product manufactured using filament technology.
Anniversary year with a view to the future
Dimension-Polyant will use its anniversary year not only to reflect on its history, but also to focus firmly on the future. At boot Düsseldorf, the company demonstrates how tradition, innovation and sustainable growth can be successfully combined.
