Kempen, 20 March 2025 – Eight stops in nine months and a distance of around 30,000 nautical miles (more than 55,000 kilometers) around the world: Offshore sailor Lisa Berger is taking on a new challenge from August 2025 and participating in the Globe40. As a manufacturer of sailcloth, Dimension-Polyant supports the sailor and provides the material for the sails of the racing yacht “Wilson”. Lisa Berger and Dimension-Polyant have already worked together in 2023 when the sailor successfully took part in the Ministrant.
Uwe Stein, CEO of Dimension-Polyant, says: “We are very pleased to accompany Lisa Berger and Jade Edwards-Leaney on their adventure and to provide them with the best possible material for a successful participation with our onyx range. The Globe40 is a unique opportunity to demonstrate the performance of our sailcloth.”
Zitat Lisa Berger: “We are super happy and glad to have a strong partner like Dimension-Polyant supporting our Globe40 project! Our partnership already started with my mini transat 2023 campaign and I am very proud that Dimension-Polyant stays on board for the next challenge – racing around the world doublehanded.”
Dimension-Polyant – innovation for ocean sports
Lisa Berger’s racing yacht will be equipped with sails from Dimension-Polyant’s new onyx range, which offers maximum performance and durability on the long offshore stages. The innovative materials guarantee maximum efficiency and durability under extreme conditions – essential for a regatta like the Globe40. The GPL LS® onyx material is particularly noteworthy and is known for its extreme durability and high resilience.
This high-tech laminate was specially developed for offshore racing and offers an optimum combination of lightness, dimensional stability, and durability. The combination of Technora® Black and carbon combines the best available fiber properties with state-of-the-art lamination. You can find more information about this material here: GPL LS® onyx.
Globe40 – A race full of adventure
The Globe40 is a regatta that combines top sporting performance with an extraordinary adventure. The race takes the 15 teams over six legs to unique stopovers, including Cape Verde (an archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean), La Réunion (French overseas department in the Indian Ocean), Australia, Chile, and Brazil, before the teams reach the finish line in Lorient (France) in April 2026. The route requires the sailors to master some of the most challenging sailing areas in the world, sailing around the three great capes – the Cape of Good Hope, Cape Leeuwin, and the legendary Cape Horn.
