With Tyra TEC®, our successful cruising laminate DCX is now thinner – lighter – stronger! The white Tyra DC enables weight savings up to 20 % compared to DCX – without compromising on durability and while also significantly improving performance.
This is possible due to our innovative Tyra Technology®, in which the yarns are first split into individual filaments and fixed into a tape before being processed into an inner matrix structure in a particularly durable laminate. The result: a significantly lighter and thinner material that is tailored to the requirements of ambitious cruising sailors.
The polyester mesh fabric of the inner matrix of our classic DCX is completely replaced in Tyra DC by Tyra UD® tapes made of Ultra-PE. The use of Ultra-PE tapes as a functional layer, which gives the material additional stability and resilience, is the key upgrade. The Ultra-PE knitted fabric used – manufactured in-house – acts as a filler component and contributes significantly to the structural integrity of the material. This design principle is unique on the market – and an expression of our uncompromising quality standards. While other manufacturers use mixed forms, Dimension-Polyant takes a consistent approach: maximum performance through maximum material purity.
The material with unidirectionally arranged filament tapes also impresses with excellent warp stretch ratings and high tear resistance, crucial properties for durable and high-performance cruising sails. Two films embed the inner matrix. These are additionally enhanced on both sides with a taffeta fabric that ensures durability thanks to its chafe resistance. The material is also treated with our tried-and-tested UVM® finish, which offers reliable protection against UV radiation and mildew.
With Tyra DC, Dimension-Polyant presents one of the most advanced developments in its portfolio – lightweight, robust, and high-performance down to the last detail. To focus on the new and improved styles, the number of styles has been reduced to three, which also reduces resource consumption.
